Dermoid Sinus is a serious condition, mainly seen in Rhodesian Ridgebacks. It is a tubular skin defect that arises because the skin and nervous system do not completely separate during embryonic development. This results in "noodle-like" tissues connecting the upper skin layers to deeper structures. Detecting these tissues can be quite challenging, even for experienced veterinarians. Dogs affected by Dermoid Sinus, or those that have had it surgically removed, should not be bred, as their offspring are likely to inherit the condition.
