ELISA
CPSE (Canine Prostate-Specific Esterase):
- Used as a biomarker for prostatic disease in male dogs, particularly for the diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
- Elevated levels may also be seen with prostatitis or prostatic neoplasia. To confirm the underlying cause, further investigations such as ultrasound, fine-needle aspiration, BRAF mutation testing, or prostate biopsy are recommended.
Sample requirements:Serum, EDTA plasma, or heparin plasma. The sample should be centrifuged promptly, separated, kept cooled, and preferably sent frozen. Mark the outer packaging “frozen sample”.
