Description |
The Psittacid Herpes virus (PsHV), an a-Herpes virus, is responsible for the Pacheco disease. Like many Herpes viruses, PsHV has the ability to establish latent infection with lifelong persistence of the pathogen. This world-wide occurring disease leads to epidemic-like deaths after a peracute to acute progress. The disease shows outbreaks particularly in stress situations, for example catch and quarantine in import birds, owner changes, hospital stays, beginning of breeding or entry in sexual maturity. Therefore, a suitable preliminary examination of birds which are to be integrated into the stock is recommended to eliminate threat other birds.
